Dear Worcester Voter,

    For those of you who don't know me, my name is Kate Toomey and I am running for election to the Worcester City Council. I am currently serving my third term, thanks to you, the voters, on the Worcester School Committee.  I am most grateful to all of you for allowing me to create policy for our city's school system.  You know that I have worked diligently  for the children of this city, that they may have a better opportunity to learn everyday.

    I have decided to run for the City Council because the things I see that need changing in some of our most vulnerable children's lives are those which occur outside the 6 hours a day the children are with the public schools.  Jobs, housing, medical care, societal stability, all those are things which impact our young people and their families. Those are things which impact your family and mine.  We all want the best for our city.  We all pay taxes.  We all want our investment in our community to continue to grow.

    Transportation, Manufacturing, Bond Indebtedness, the Airport, are all issues that continue to be discussed on the floor of the city council chamber.  These and many other issues are important to the quality of our future. I believe that I can bring a professional and fresh perspective, representing you, the citizens of Worcester, on the City Council.  You know from my work experience that I do not shy away from listening to all sides.  You know that I am accessible.  You know that I am capable of making a tough decision.

    Please give me the opportunity to serve you as well on the City Council as I have on the School Committee.
